a new experience for our guests

Our guests, Fiona and Michael, shared their experiences from their first non-skiing winter holiday, staying at Au Pied d’Hauto in February 2024. Thanks to Fiona for sharing their experiences and photos!
“This year we decided to try something different, a winter break with no skiing!
The accommodation itself is fabulous; modern, clean and very comfortable. This was our first Winter walking holiday and Kristina kindly provided us with maps and local intel on the best places to visit, which was very much appreciated.
There is an easy uphill walk, alongside an impressive river from the accommodation to Lake Montriond which was still partially frozen when we visited and made for a beautiful backdrop to the surrounding mountains. Continuing upwards through the forest from the Lake for a further 30 mins or so, you can pick up the Ardent cable car to the Les Lindarets village in the Avoriaz ski area, with lots of great options for lunch and a well-earned glass of wine! We also visited Mont Caly, which was short drive on a pretty winding road to try snowshoeing for the first time. A truly beautiful forest walk, with stunning views and a fabulous stop for lunch at Les Chevrelles, though we recommend you book as the restaurant was very busy. From the accommodation you can also walk into Morzine which has a great selection of shops and restaurants. We walked every day on varying routes and terrain and realised there is more to a Winter break than skiing.
This accommodation is ideally placed to try something a little different on your next winter holiday.”
